Hi Rai,

I see you've listed 'Wordcount' as a new feature, but I don't see that category showing up on the cover page. Am I missing something? I pull stories from fanfiction.net.

Also, I can't find the 'layout' page in the program file for the purpose of editing the info on cover pages. Is this option no longer available?

Thanks,
~Rach

racheldvn, the layout is located in the program file in your c drive. for example, C:\Program Files\FanFictionDownloader. once you've converted at least one fic, it will show up. depending on what you use for your html files (which browser is the default, whether it be firefox, opera, ie, chrome, etc.), the layout file will be labeled as layout with the icon as your browser (mine's firefox). right click on it and open with notepad.

to add word count to the layout, you'll need to add the following line somewhere before the chapter area start. i'll give you mine as an example.

<b>Author:</b> %author<br/>
<b>Last updated:</b> %updated<br/>
<b>Word Count:</b> %wordstory<br/>

this should fix your problems. let me know if it doesn't.

I cannot find the layout page either. I'm using the latest released version (not the one that is currently being tested) and I have downloaded thousands of stories from Fanfiction . net.

I use IE and convert to epub. I'm not sure that it matters, but I changed where the files get saved and do not save the html file.

I looked in my file folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\FanFictionDownloader) and the layout page never shows up.

Am I doing something wrong? Also, will I be able to change the font in the layout page or will I be able to change the font of the metadata that is sent to calibre? I have trouble reading the summary in calibre and cannot seem to bulk change it there.

jade, do you see the other things in the fanfic dl'er program file? like the 7 dll files and stuff? have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling it? i use firefox and i convert to mobi and don't save the html.

also, if you are using the newest version, have you downloaded anything with this new version or have you only used an older version?

Yes, I saw 7 dll files and other files in the fanfictiondownloader folder. As you suggested I unistalled and then reinstalled and tried downloading a story. I even tried both the installer for those who already have calibre and those who do not. I've downloaded a story after each time I reinstalled the downloader. The layout page never appeared.

I have a picture of the files in the fanfictiondownloader folder, but I am unsure how to add it.

I had the same problem locating the layout.html file. Finally found it here "C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\FanFictionDownloader". not sure why though.

Hope this helps

Windows treats the installer version's layout file as local data- files that are used behind the scenes by installed programs, which is one reason why I don't bother with installers if a no-install version of a program is available on windows. (Linux programs tend to be more forthright in what files are accessed and from where.)

I'm in same position as jade; I never could locate it in the program file, like it was in previous versions. Thanks to el3302, though, I was able to find it in the AppData folder and made the necessary changes. Thanks so much for the tip! I'm now running 64 bit, could that be what's causing the disperity?
