Problem with pdf? [Not a FFDL Bug]

Post by Sintho »

Since I updated to the new 0.6.0, there seems to be a problem when creating pdfs.

Whenever there's a new page, the writing seems to be cut.
I've compared this to older downloaded fics, where I've also noticed that the newer pdfs seem to be more centered, which might be the reason why they seem so weird.

Edit: I personally can't the see the pictures, even though I used the code, so I'm posting the links separately as well:

Hi,

that's a problem of the Calibre Software not of FFDL.

This bug was already reported to Kovid Goya, but he set the status to "won't fix" because that's a "limitation of the calibre pdf library".

You could use an older version of calibre or you could look for a free pdf library that I could include....

Hi Sintho,

I was reading a part of the QT documentation when I found a nice object for printing pdf files. I did some tests just now and the results are amazing!

Here's an example: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13474460/ffdl_exp.pdf

What do you think? Even the newpage before a chapter is possible.

Some feedback would be great.

Hey there Raimond,

sorry for taking so long with my answer. I'm taking my Abitur right now, and kind of forgot to check for any answers here
The dropbox example looks perfect, much better than the current calibre one. If it were possible to add that to ffdl, you would make me one happy user.

Sintho

Edit: Some letters (p, y, g, probably q and j as well) are being slightly cut off if they're at the end of a page, check page 10 for an example. I still think it's way better than the current calibre one, because it's still readable without any bigger problems.
