I could offer a "Read Links from File" function.
You enter the links in a .txt file, one link per line, then click "read from file" and every story is downloaded

Honestly, I think that would be a pain to do. We'd have to copy and paste each link into a text file, save the text file and then they'd all download. My preferred method would be to have a download queue through the download window, copy a link, it automatically gets pasted into the download window and we hit download. The end.

I like to see the progress bar of each fic I'm downloading, too.

But, having said that, your txt file idea is better than nothing.

RedneckDrow wrote:If it isn't working for you, edit the output structure files. I haven't used graffer in a month, but as long as you follow the instructions for editing the html/xml output structure files, you should be ok.

Use this to edit an html/xml/other file an highlight the syntax: Notepad ++. Just select either html or xml under "language".

It supports almost every popular programming language, and has a plethora of plugins.
Thanks for that, sadly, I have no idea how to go about what you suggested. Which instructions were you talking about? I'd love to know how to repair FFnet changes in the future. A friend sent me a modified .cs plugin file yesterday and it's working perfectly now. From the code, the change was about three characters and that's it. I wish I knew what all those characters meant!

IndecisiveMe - The newest version of the program already monitors any fanfic links.

The text file method is not bad idea - just grab all the links from a page with a downloading program and then paste it onto a text file

From which page? I don't put anything in my favourites list unless I've read it and it's truly a favourite. I guess I could grab all the links in my alerts list, but that seems a little silly when I have hundreds and there might only be 12 I want to download. I also ONLY download completed fics. I don't read many WIPs and certainly don't download them until finished.

Yes, I know FFDL already automatically pastes copied URLs, but that's for one fic and there is no download queue. If there was a queue, you'd be able to copy a link, have it automatically paste into the download window of FFDL and then hit download. That's it. Seems easier to me. And that's why I love Graffer.

I'll certainly try this txt file thing, but honestly, I don't think it's anywhere near as user-friendly as a queue.

I don't believe what you want is a queue but rather a favorite list like the one that initially pop up on graffer that let's you know a fic been updated.

I was talking about the download process and how version 0.3.2 has been a huge improvement over 0.3.1 and how it will be greatly improved if multiple files can queue up (even if you need to paste it to a text file).

Wow, you are confusing...

Download Queue:
For me that's something where you put several link divided by an seperator into.
e.g. an input like a multiline chat window (or a textfile)

Favorite List:
It's actually called "Downloadhistory" but renaming is not a problem:-)
You'll be able to check for updated, remove and add stories.....

No, just like I said, I would like a download queue. The same as Graffer provides. If you look at the very first post in this thread you'll see what I'm after. As I mentioned in my post, the only things on my favourites list are things I've already read. Therefore I have already downloaded them and don't need to do that again. Also, I never used the favourites list on Graffer for that very reason.

oh now that one would be freaking fantastic! firefox has an addon called url lister that copies all your open tabs as links and you can paste it into notepad or whatever. that would work great with your idea, rai, for me, because i don't download anything but completed fic's anyway. oh i hope you have the time and energy to work on that, if that's your plan. :D

The textfile feature is already finished and tested.
It'll be available with the next release. But there is still a lot that I want to include before I publish it.

That's the list of work done:
  • New Page: Ficwad.com
New: Update date in filename (%d)
    New: Read links from file
    New: Category for adultfanfiction.net
    New: Category for FanFicAuthors.net
    New: Category for MediaMiner.net
    New: Category for Mugglenet.com
    New: Category for squide.org/peja
    New: Wordcount (Story and chapter)
